Oh my gosh! I actually got to go to Scotland in June! It all happened when I reconnected with a first cousin on my dad’s side at my uncle’s funeral last summer (not her dad). I hadn’t seen her since childhood, and we got to talking and realized that we love to travel but need someone to travel with! Another cousin and my sister voiced their desire to travel as well, so Trisha took it upon herself to lead the traveling cousins group.
We all expressed a desire to go to Scotland but two of us couldn’t go yet, so it was tabled at that time. Then, school let out for the summer this year, and Trisha reached out, wanting to know who was ready to go.
No one else could go this summer, either, except me, so she asked me where I wanted to go. I mentioned London, Paris, Alaska, and Scotland, and she said, “Let’s go to Scotland!” She had already been twice and loves it there. So…in a matter of a few days, we had purchased our plane tickets, booked our hotels and rental car, and bought tickets to several tours. We were leaving in three weeks!

to board our plane at DFW.
We had opted for an overnight flight, so my son Matt and her daughter-in-law Kendall dropped us off at the airport the evening of June 11, in time to go through security and board our 9:30 American Airlines flight to London Heathrow, where we would board a British Airways plane to Edinburgh, Scotland. It would be a nine-hour flight, but we weren’t worried. We would be able to sleep all night on the plane. Yeah….right……
Stay tuned for window seats, young Frenchmen, and spewing water bottles. Traveling with April and Trisha isn’t for the faint-hearted!
